FKP USIM Strengthens International Outreach Through Academic and Promotional Visit to Cambodia

Phnom Penh Cambodia, 16 July 2026 – The Faculty of Leadership and Management (FKP), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), represented by Dr. Saleha Idris, Senior Lecturer from the Da’wah and Islamic Management Programme, successfully completed a six-day official visit to Cambodia from 11 to 16 July 2026. The visit aimed to strengthen academic collaboration, promote USIM and FKP, and expand educational opportunities for Muslim students in Cambodia.

As part of the visit, Dr. Saleha conducted academic outreach sessions at Norol Iman High School, Chroy Metrey, Kandal, and Cambodia Islamic Centre School, Chroy Metrey, engaging with Grade 11 and Grade 12 students. During the sessions, she introduced the Faculty of Leadership and Management and highlighted its six academic programmes, admission requirements, and the diverse career pathways available to graduates.

Many of the students shared that this was their first introduction to USIM. As the Grade 12 students are scheduled to sit for their final school examinations and begin their higher education journey within the next month, the sessions provided valuable exposure to higher education opportunities while inspiring and motivating them to pursue their academic aspirations.

In addition to the student engagement activities, Dr. Saleha was invited to deliver a professional development workshop at NICS entitled “Methodology of Teaching and Student Development Based on Educational Psychology.” The workshop was attended by nearly 40 teachers and focused on understanding the psychological characteristics of Generation Z and Generation Alpha learners. The session also explored practical teaching strategies and student-centred approaches to create more engaging and effective learning environments.

The working visit also included a special invitation from H.E. Dr. Alfin Sles, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Information of the Royal Government of Cambodia for interview session with Cambodia Islamic TV (CITV) Phnom Penh on the importance of Islamic education for Muslim community in Cambodia. Before the session, she was been entertained by H.E. Mosa Aly, Advisor to the Royal Government of Cambodia, who held discussions on future collaboration and opportunities for Cambodian Muslim students to pursue higher education at USIM.

The six day visit reflects USIM’s continued commitment to internationalisation and global engagement by strengthening partnerships with educational institutions and government agencies in Cambodia. It also serves as an important platform to introduce USIM’s unique integration of Naqli and Aqli knowledge while expanding access to quality Islamic higher education for the Muslim community in the region
