Duration of Study
- Full Time: Min 6 Semester (3 Years) - Max 12 Semester (6 years)
- Part TIme: Min 8 Semester (4 Years) - Max 16 Semester (8 Years)
a. A Master’s degree in a related field or other recognised fields as approved by the Senate; or
b. Other qualifications recognised as equivalent to a Master’s degree by the Government of Malaysia; or
c. Applicants with qualifications in non-related fields or without relevant working experience are required to undertake prerequisite courses as determined by the Senate; or
d. Fulfil the requirements for APEL admission (subject to programmes approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency [MQA]).

Effective for students registering from Semester 1, Academic Session 2024/2025 (164th Senate Meeting).

For Malaysian Applicant
(1) An applicant shall show evidence of proficiency in the English language based on the following criteria:
- TOEFL minimum score of 550 (paper-based), 180 (computer-based) or 64 (internet-based); or
- IELTS minimum score of Band 5; or
- MUET minimum score of Band 3; or
- graduated from institutions that use English as the main medium of instruction, AND will be required to seat for University English Proficiency Test (UEPT) with minimum score of Band 3; or
- graduated in the field of Teaching of English as a Second Language (TESL), English Language Studies (ELS) and equivalent from a university recognised by the Senate; or
- a native speaker of English.
(2) Research-mode applicant who intends to write his/her thesis in Arabic will be required to fulfil the criteria as follows:
- TOEFL minimum score of 500 (paper-based), 150 (computer-based) or 52 (internet-based); or
- IELTS minimum score of Band 4; or
- MUET minimum score of Band 2; or
- UEPT minimum score of Band 2. UEPT only valid for Malaysians (82nd JKPSU Meeting)
(3) An applicant who does not fulfil any of the criteria under (1) & (2) will be allowed to register conditionally and is required to fulfil any of the criteria under (1) or (2), within 12 months (for Master’s students) and 24 months (for Ph.D. students).
For International Applicant
(1) All International applicants are required to meet the following University's English Language requirement before registering in the program:
- TOEFL with minimum score of 600 (paper-based) or its equivalent online-based or home-based; or
- IELTS minimum score of Band 6.0; or
- MUET minimum score of Band 4; or
(2) An applicant who does not fulfil any of the criteria under (1) & (2) will be allowed to register conditionally and is required to fulfil any of the criteria under (1) or (2), within 12 months (for Master’s students) and 24 months (for Ph.D. students).
